Rice and National Culture

Japan	Japanese rice art was founded in 1993.   Japan have rice culture, thousand years ago, rice as a staple food for Japanese. Rice crackers is the most popular pastries, ingredients is including rice or flour. Coated with soy sauce or mix with sesame and salt, finally roast it. Pastry is one kind of the glutinous cake, ingredient is made from rice. Japanese will eat red rice during a joyous occasions. Nowadays, once family members have some things joyous matter, like first time of menstrual, wedding, procreation. They will having red rice together for celebrate it.
India	India’s rice production is quite a long history in the world, rice is staple food for around 65% of the population in India. Mild climate is suitable produce paddy rice, so India is the largest production of paddy rice. Furthermore, rice production is more than Vietnam. The king of the rice in India is called Basmati The shape of slender and the rice aroma is the specialized.   Pongal is an annual harvest festival in the south of the India The boiling of milk porridge The actual day of Pongal is 14th January, every family must cook the milk porridge on these day. They will make milk boiling during dawn, once the milk is overflow from the tin, adult and children will shout 'Pongal-o-Pongal”, and pouring rice and salt at the same time too. “Pongal” means “boiling and overflow”, so every people through by the special ceremony to celebrate plentiful harvest and happiness.
Thailand	Plowing Day is one of the important occasions in Thailand. Plowing Day will be held beside the Bangkok palace. The date is choose by diviner. The specialized of jasmine rice is slender shape, clear appearance, smooth, slightly blend, soft and smooth texture. The location, latitude, weather, decide the water of rice did not more than 14%.
China	China is one of the country which have highest production in rice in the world, 35% of the world production. The content of China national emblem is including the rice image.
France	Al Rice Festival is harvest festival in France. The festival activities is  included elected "Rice Queen",the parade, bull match, drink wine, eat Spanish seafood.
United States	International Rice Festival is celebrated by Louisiana(located in the United States). They celebrate on the third weekend of October. In Louisiana, it’s one of the occasions which have a long history and biggest in agriculture. There are two demonstrations during the festival: Children's parade, on friday Total demonstration, on saturday Other activities is: Rice Cooking Contest, eating rice contest, farmers' banquet and the Queens' Ball.
Malaysia	Gawai festival is celebrated the rice harvest festival. A traditional ceremony and the traditional dance is necessary for the festival. Visitors can participate in local open day and enjoy traditional cuisine. Rice harvest is completed in May each year, the tribe will celebrate various events at the same time. Celebration usually start from the end of May. Firstly, village elders preside the ritual, hope and pray for the coming year have a good harvest. Traditional dance Gawai festival like chinese celebrate the Lunar New Year, emphasize the meaning of family reunion and joyous. They will clean up the house, eve of the festival is family reunion. Every household serve guests with rice wine, and entertained them by dance. Rice wine is essential drinks. It mix with the glutinous rice which contain coconut milk, then put one foot long bamboo, baked with fire and made bamboo rice and pantry. Celebrate the rice harvest and thanksgiving ceremony. Served by delicious food, dance performances, buffalo games, some games and other special events to celebrate. The other name of harvest festival is Tadau Kaamatan or Magavau.
